Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 4, 2026
QEvents is a community platform for queer events worldwide. We take your privacy seriously — we collect as little data as possible, we don't sell it, and we don't use it to track you. This policy explains what we do collect and why.
1. Who We Are
QEvents is an independent platform dedicated to surfacing queer events worldwide. This site is operated as a community project and is not affiliated with any government body or large corporation.
For privacy-related questions, contact us at: Contact us
2. What We Collect
We collect only what we need to operate the platform:
- Event submissions — When you submit an event via our native event submission form, we collect the information you provide: event name, organizer name, date, venue, city, description, and contact details. This data is stored securely in Supabase and is only used to publish and manage your event on QEvents.
- Technical data — Standard server logs may include your IP address and browser type when you visit the site. These are not linked to your identity and are deleted periodically.
- No account required — We do not require you to create an account to browse events. We don't collect your name, email, or any personal information just for browsing.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not use advertising trackers or sell your data to third parties.
- We do not use analytics platforms that track individual users (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel).
- We do not collect sensitive personal information such as sexual orientation, gender identity, health data, or financial details.
- We do not use cookies for tracking — only essential functional cookies (see our Cookie Policy).
4. How We Use Your Information
Event submission data is used solely to:
- Review and approve events for listing on QEvents.
- Contact organizers if we need to verify event details.
- Display accurate event information to the public.
We do not use your information for marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the platform.
5. Third-Party Services
QEvents uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Supabase — Our database provider. Event data is stored securely on Supabase servers. Supabase Privacy Policy →
- Event Submission Form — Our native event submission form collects event details to display on QEvents. All data is stored in Supabase and governed by our Privacy Policy.
- Vercel — Our hosting provider. Standard web server logs may be retained. Vercel Privacy Policy →
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have rights under applicable law:
- Access — Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion — Request removal of your personal data from our systems.
- Objection — Object to how we process your data.
To exercise any of these rights, reach us through our Contact us and we'll respond within 30 days.
7. Data Retention
Event submission data (organizer contact info) is kept for as long as the event is listed plus 6 months, then deleted. If an event is not approved, submission data is deleted within 30 days.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the platform grows. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top when we do. If changes are significant, we'll note them here.
